The mold temperature has a substantial effect on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\tmechanical properties<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tshrinkage behavior<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tWarpage<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tsurface quality<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tcycle time<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tflow length in thin walled part<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In particular semicrystalline thermoplastics need to cool down at optimal crystallization rate. Insulation boards with low thermal conductivity and relatively high compressive strength are commercially available.<\/p>\n<p>Guidelines for mold temperature control include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\tindependent symmetrical cooling circuits around the mold cavities<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tcores need effective cooling<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tshort cooling channels to ensure temperature differences between in and outlet do not exceed 5 degree<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tparallel circuits are preferred over serial cooling<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tavoid dead spots and\/or air bubbles in cooling circuits<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\thead exchange between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acomold.com\/\">injection mould<\/a> and machine should be minimized<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tdifferences in flow resistance of cooling channels, caused by diameter changes, should be avoided.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mold parts that are excessively heated, like spure bushings and areas near the gates, must be cooled intensively. Rapid and even cooling is enhanced by the use of highly conductive metals, such as berylliumcopper. These metals are used to full advantage in places where it is impossible to place sufficient cooling channels. Copper transfer twice as much heat as carbon steel and four times as much heat as stainless steel.
