{"id":31,"date":"2022-08-31T15:29:53","date_gmt":"2022-08-31T07:29:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/acomold.com\/custom-made-remote-controller-with-silicone-case.html"},"modified":"2023-07-26T16:52:34","modified_gmt":"2023-07-26T08:52:34","slug":"custom-made-remote-controller-with-silicone-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.acomold.com\/custom-made-remote-controller-with-silicone-case.html","title":{"rendered":"Custom made remote controller with silicone case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently we had done a succeed mold and molding project for a US company, it&#8217;s a type of a remote controller with silicone cover, project went smooth but I would like to summarize it and point out a few key points, first we take a look on the project.<br \/>\n<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"\/image\/remote-controller-3d-design.jpg\" title=\"Remote controller 3D design\" alt=\"Remote controller 3D design\" width=\"300\" height=\"320\" align=\"right\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"\/image\/remote-controller-3d-design.jpg\" title=\"Remote controller 3D design\" alt=\"Remote controller 3D design\" width=\"300\" height=\"320\" align=\"right\"><\/noscript><br \/>\nIt&#8217;s consisted with front case, back case, cover, and silicone pad, there is a BOM for the whole product, but due to Non-disclosure agreement, we can&#8217;t give more details how it was designed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Basic part information<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\tPart size: 80x45x30mm<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tPlastic material: ABS \/silicone<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tFinish: SPI-B-2<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tColor: blue\/black<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tProduction volume: 10K<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We made one 1+1+1 family mold for the front case, back case, cover, actually the front case and cover are in blue, back case is in black, the question is how to do 2 different color in one mold? &#8212; we design a turntable gate so we can mold one color by sealing the other cavities, by this way we only need one mold, even the molding productivity is a little lower but given the cost of an extra mold and only 10K production volume, this is still an economic way to go.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Basic mold information<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\tMold type: 2-Plate<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tGate type: Side Gate<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tCavity number: 1+1+1<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tMaterial: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acomold.com\/abs-plastic-injection-molding.html\">ABS<\/a><\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tShrinkage: 5\/1000<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tMolding Machine (Tons): 120T<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tSecond Process: none<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Still we start with DFM before mold design, we cross check with customers by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acomold.com\/mold-dfm-report.html\">DFM report<\/a> for some important information like, parting line, gate position, ejection, etc.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"\/image\/remote-controller-dfm.jpg\" title=\"Remote controller DFM\" alt=\"Remote controller DFM\" width=\"620\" height=\"274\"><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"\/image\/remote-controller-dfm.jpg\" title=\"Remote controller DFM\" alt=\"Remote controller DFM\" width=\"620\" height=\"274\"><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>Then mold design in 3D, some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acomold.com\/injection-mold-factory-in-china.html\">mold factories<\/a> prefer to do 2D mold design first and then 3D mold design, in actual practice, this is actually Inefficiency way to approach.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"\/image\/remote-controller-mold-design-in-3d.jpg\" title=\"Remote controller mold design in 3D\" alt=\"Remote controller mold design in 3D\" width=\"503\" height=\"417\"><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"\/image\/remote-controller-mold-design-in-3d.jpg\" title=\"Remote controller mold design in 3D\" alt=\"Remote controller mold design in 3D\" width=\"503\" height=\"417\"><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>Mold molding took us 20 days, see how the mold look like on injection machine.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"\/image\/remote-controller-mold-on-injection-machine.jpg\" title=\"Remote controller mold on injection machine\" alt=\"Remote controller mold on injection machine\" width=\"620\" height=\"435\"><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"\/image\/remote-controller-mold-on-injection-machine.jpg\" title=\"Remote controller mold on injection machine\" alt=\"Remote controller mold on injection machine\" width=\"620\" height=\"435\"><\/noscript><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nHow samples looks like:&nbsp;<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"\/image\/remote-controller-samples.jpg\" title=\"Remote controller samples\" alt=\"Remote controller samples\" width=\"620\" height=\"450\"><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"\/image\/remote-controller-samples.jpg\" title=\"Remote controller samples\" alt=\"Remote controller samples\" width=\"620\" height=\"450\"><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>There is one more 6 cavity mold for the silicone cover, silicone mold is just quite easy and cheap, most tricky part is the secondary process, the silicone case usually need to be oil painted.
