Choosing the top cost German, Swiss or UK mold making suppliers only speaks for not applying, enforcing and monitoring compliance throughout the process.
Good Chinese mold suppliers have the best equipment money can buy—The same as the Germans and the Swiss and the material sources can be verified and certified as well. If you want Bohler steel, the Chinese can get it and you can get the certs and do your own verification back to Bohler based upon their sales to the Chinese mold maker.
I live and work out of Portugal and I have German customers which insist upon Chinese suppliers because they are not willing to pay the price of EU suppliers. And I’m speaking of Benz, BMW, VW, Audi, Fiat, Volvo, Porsche, Maserati and Lamborghini just to cite a few examples.
You can’t just send a file to someone and get a good mold. There are specific requirements that the owner of the project must oversee and be responsible for, which includes due diligence of the chosen supplier, customer standards, customer specifications, design approval and material certifications, to name a few.
There is no reason that you cannot get the same quality mold as your German, Swiss or UK suppliers if you do the correct and appropriate actions. You can make a mass anywhere in the world if you choose the wrong supplier.
You risk leaving thousands if not hundreds of thousands Euros on the table if you simply choose to take simple way out—- it doesn’t cost much to have your own eyes and ears on the ground in China compared to the cost premium paid to take easy way out.
